L.K.A. Championship Show 2018 Critique

Thank you very much for the invitation to judge Deerhounds at the LKA.
The ring was of super size, so the dogs could really stretch out and show their movement.
Big thank you to my lovely stewards who were ever so helpful and made sure that everything went smoothly.
Thank you so much to the breeders and fanciers of our lovely breed, who only came to cheer for the winners.
So pleased to see fit Deerhounds, strong jaws and low hocks, too many have too high hocks, from my point of view.

PD (1)

1 Grimshaw's Greyflax Diamond Joe At Jamalison Almost a year young well grown 'puppy'. He doesn't look like one as he has already a very good size for his age, excellent bone and all those lovely curves you want to see at this age. Very nice head and expression. We all know that at this age the shoulder-upper arm angulation could be better. But his hind-quarters are so well developed that I'm very positive that he will develop nicely. Moved for his age very well.

JD (1)

1 Swanson's Cotherstone Dallas Dhu Of Altimarlach. A junior of medium size. Lovely head and excellent well shaped ears. Very nice length in body. A too upright upper – arm matching the rather moderate angulations in front and rear. Very good feet and excellent coat.

PGD (2)

1 Cummings Killoeter Tam Dubh Strong masculine hound. Well matured with very good bone, angulations and depth of body. A masculine head with very strong jaws. His movement was very typical and sound from all angles during his first round in the ring with a proud head carriage. Lovely coat and great temperament.

2 Pink's Greyhawks Romanie Chor more elegant male compared to 1. Very nice type, maybe a bit upright and less well angulated. Moves very well and has a very good coat.

1 Pursglove's Stranwith Roag very nice type, very good size and well proportioned. Lovely head and nice eyes. Very good top- and underline. Correct, typical harsh coat. Moved very sound and true.
